マザーが着ている白いサリーの青い線を陰影だけで表現しなければならない。

サリーの襞（ひだ） を丁寧になぞっていく。

襞のひとつひつにマザーへの思いを込めて・・・。

Tracing the folds of her sari carefully,

I make them one by one with my heart to Mother.

胸の小さな十字架 A little cross on her bust

胸の小さな十字架は、マザーのシンボル。制作上も、目安になっている。

A little cross on her bust is a symbol of Mother.

Also this is a mark for position of making the whole.

マザーの姿 The figure of Mother

だんだんと若き日のマザーの姿になってきた。

Gradually it became the figure of young Mother.

全体へ To make the whole

土台を固定して、胸像全体を作り始めた。等身大のリアル感、まるでマザーが息づいているかのようだ。



I fixed the base and started making the whole parts of the bust statue. The reality of the life size makes me feel as Mother live here.

眼差し Her look

今回の制作でポイントを置いているのが、眼差し。この作品の命になるだろう。

I place great importance on her look. It will be the vital point of this work.

再現 Reproduction

マザーテレサの若い頃の写真はほとんどない。わずかなその写真と、誰もがよく知っている晩年のマザーテレサの写真や映像から、骨格を割り出して、若き日のマザーテレサを再現していく。

There are few photos of the young Mother Teresa. Figuring out the framework of her face with those photos and pictures of the old Mother Teresa well known, I try to reproduct the young Mother Teresa.
