An expression of Tose （トシェの表情）

I started to make the details of his face. But, after all, this is no more than a prototype in clay. The real work is sculpting a marble. It may be strange for you that I can make a delicate expression of a face more exactly in marble than in clay. Because, as a material, clay is too soft for me to make a face freely. To some extent, it is better for me that a material is hard.

細部を丁寧に仕上げ始めた。とは言っても、所詮原型に過ぎない。本番は、あくまでも大理石。意外かもしれないが、私にとっては、粘土で顔を作るより、大理石で顔を作った方が、より正確に、繊細な表情を出すことができる。材質の硬さが関係していて、粘土では柔らか過ぎて、思うような造形ができないのだ。
