一路東京へ Ⅰheaded straight for Tokyo this weekend.

今週末は、東京で過ごすことに。しかし、さまざまな用事でスケジュールはびっしり！

This weekend I will spend in Tokyo, but my schedule is full of various things to do!

わずかな変化 A subtle change

一日ヤスリなどで顔を削る。わずかな変化だが、顔の陰影が次第についてきた。

All the day I filed the face. It is a subtle change, but the face got shaded gradually.

遠い道のり A long way

この顔を作る作業では、ノミを使うことは出来ず、ひたすらヤスリで削っている。小さいとはいえ、石は石。ヤスリだけで形を作るのは気が遠くなる作業だ。

To make the face, I can't use chisels, but files. Though it is small, but a stone is a stone. It is a overwhelming job to make a figure only by files.

稲穂とお地蔵さん

収穫の秋のひとコマ。稲穂の中にお地蔵さんがポツンと佇む・・・。

顔 The face

いよいよ顔を彫り始めた。３ｃｍ×５ｃｍぐらいの大きさの中に、顔を彫っていかなければならないので、かなり難しい作業だ。

Finally I started sculpting the face. I must make it 3cm by 5cm in width, so it is a very difficult job.

接近・・・ Approaching...

衣服も含めて、かなり原型に近づいてきた。ここまで来ると、楽しみながら彫ることが出来る。

It is approching to the prototype closely, including the clothes. Now, I can enjoy sculpting.

一週間 One week has passed

茨城に移動してから一週間が過ぎた。ようやく全体の輪郭も見え、形がそれとなくわかるようになった。ここまでも一苦労だが、ここからはさらに慎重な作業が求められる。

One week has passed since I came to Ibaraki. At last the whole outline appeared and we somehow can see the figure. Until now it was hard work, but from now it needs more delicate work.
