表情 Expression

だんだんと表情が出てきた。粘土や石膏より、石の方が、その硬さゆえに、より正確で豊かな表情を可能にしてくれる。

Gradually an expression appeared. More than clay and gypsum, stone can make exact and rich expression, because of its hardness.

制作再開 Restart of sculpting

週末、東京に戻り、再び茨城での制作を再開した。週末、大勢の方に出会ったが、やはりこれが一番性に合っているのがわかる、落ち着いたひと時。

Last weekend I spent in Tokyo and met a lot of people. But, when I retstarted sculpting, I recognized this was my work, which was the most suitable for me, and I felt at ease.

一路東京へ Ⅰheaded straight for Tokyo this weekend.

今週末は、東京で過ごすことに。しかし、さまざまな用事でスケジュールはびっしり！

This weekend I will spend in Tokyo, but my schedule is full of various things to do!

わずかな変化 A subtle change

一日ヤスリなどで顔を削る。わずかな変化だが、顔の陰影が次第についてきた。

All the day I filed the face. It is a subtle change, but the face got shaded gradually.

遠い道のり A long way

この顔を作る作業では、ノミを使うことは出来ず、ひたすらヤスリで削っている。小さいとはいえ、石は石。ヤスリだけで形を作るのは気が遠くなる作業だ。

To make the face, I can't use chisels, but files. Though it is small, but a stone is a stone. It is a overwhelming job to make a figure only by files.

稲穂とお地蔵さん

収穫の秋のひとコマ。稲穂の中にお地蔵さんがポツンと佇む・・・。

顔 The face

いよいよ顔を彫り始めた。３ｃｍ×５ｃｍぐらいの大きさの中に、顔を彫っていかなければならないので、かなり難しい作業だ。

Finally I started sculpting the face. I must make it 3cm by 5cm in width, so it is a very difficult job.
