When the Nike was discovered on the island of Samothrace, it was just a torso and 108 broken pieces of marble. As a result that they were combined one by one and restored, the present statue emerged.
サモトラケ島でニケが見つかったときは、一つのトルソと１１８の大理石の破片に過ぎなかった。それを一つ一つ組み合わせて修復した結果、現在の像が出現したのである。
