Adjust the thickness （厚みの調節）

Half a day I tried to cut the marble with a handsaw. I realized how hard it was to cut a marble with a handsaw. Sculptors who use disc grinders never imagine like that hardness. But, I am particular about hand working without machines.

半日、のこぎりで大理石を切っていた。いかにそれが難しいことか思い知らされた。電動のディスクグラインダーを使って仕事をしている彫刻家には想像もつかない大変さだろう。しかし、私は機械を使わない手仕事にこだわっているのである。
